There is so much to love about Hall of Fame events, such as those just held by the Ovens and Murray Football-Netball League.

They provide a wonderful opportunity to reflect on everything that's great about sporting clubs and, usually, the feats on the football field or netball court are just one aspect of why a person has been inducted.
Mateship, camaraderie, service to club and the odd bit of rascalous behaviour, you hear it all during the speeches, which are a chance to learn about the player off the field, as much as on it.
The emotion which Rebecca Cameron showed upon being inducted and her love for her family was a highlight of the night, as was seeing Colleen and Michael Deane present Myrtleford with the two Morris medals of their husband and father, Jim.
As someone who was just an ordinary footballer, having the opportunity to mingle and chat with Ovens and Murray luminaries is always a privilege.
It was also great to see newly-elected Indi MP Helen Haines in the crowd. After the recent federal election campaign I thought I knew everything about Dr Haines but I managed to extract a couple of important pieces of information out of her. For those interested, she's a Wangaratta Rovers and Richmond supporter. I guess no one's perfect!
Speaking of hall of fames, I'm very much looking forward to the Albury Wodonga Business Awards on Friday, July 26.
The Border Mail is proud to sponsor the Hall of Fame at the awards and, personally, it's been a great highlight of the past two years being able to induct John Mars in 2017 and Baker Motors last year.
I can't wait to share with you all who the latest inductee is.
In the meantime, I hope you have terrific Sunday and week ahead.
Cheers,
Xavier Mardling,
The Border Mail editor
