The association this week revealed it has started to explore the possibility of implementing a player points system around a club's ability to recruit.
Wangaratta felt targeted by the decision given it came to light just weeks after it signed former A-League striker Andrew Barisic.

Vasilevski admitted the argument always comes back to clubs supposedly paying players to enjoy success.
"If there's all these talks about match payments, maybe AWFA should go out there and put a structure in place where you can pay players," Vasilevski said.
"You can't pay them any more than this, there's a budget and maybe help clubs do that, I don't know."
Vasilevski believes AWFA has the ability to produce quality players, but having Murray United as the sole pathway in the region for higher level football isn't enough.
