A flag lowering ceremony took place in Wodonga before a clash between The Warriors and Wodonga Storm in Albury.
A performance by the James Fallon Wiradjuri Dance Troupe kicked off the event before The Warriors claimed a 50-14 victory.
Despite the Storm's loss, captain Mosiah Kerr-Kaiwai said he enjoyed the match.
"It was lots of fun, but a bit cold at the start," he said.
"To me NAIDOC Week is about supporting and respecting Indigenous people."
From Hip Hop Dance workshops in Indigo Shire to a film festival in Wangaratta run by the Dirrawarra Indigenous Network, thousands of people attended events across the Border and North East region.

The 2019 theme was 'VOICE.TREATY.TRUTH.', touching on the United Nations International Year of Indigenous Languages, the reforms set out in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and a goal to "work together for a shared future".
