Land claims of interest include sites in Coreen, Daysdale, Mulwala, Howlong, Rennie, Oaklands, Savernake and Urana with council flagging an interest in identified sites in Coreen, Daysdale, Howlong, Rennie and Savernake for uses including public open space, road reserves and sporting grounds.
Cr David Longley's concerns around fire management contributed to the item being deferred until next month.
"If the claims are successful who is going to manage the land? "Who is going to control the fire risk?
"At the moment somebody else is obviously doing it, but when it changes hands are they going to maintain it?"
Registration of the Aboriginal land claims has also occurred with the Department of Industry and Crown Lands within the past fortnight.
Land claims are investigated in accordance with provisions contained in the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983.
