That came after a recommended seven-month intensive corrections order was confirmed by Albury Local Court on Tuesday.
Magistrate Rodney Brender asked McLean, appearing via a video link to Junee jail, if he understood the sentence with an: "OK?"
"Yes, your honour," the 25-year-old replied.

But the 113 days he has spent in custody now behind him does not represent a big step into freedom.
The corrections order, with several onerous conditions, includes a requirement that he be placed under home detention, albeit at his girlfriend's Howlong home.
McLean will be subject to electronic monitoring.
Mr Brender told McLean that as soon as he left jail and had made his way to Howlong, he had to contact phone numbers provided to him to initiate the start to this monitoring process.
But before he actually confirmed the recommended sentence, which had to be subject to a home detention assessment by NSW Community Corrections, Mr Brender asked about McLean's Victorian matters.
"Is there any update on what's happening in Victoria that I need to know about?" Mr Brender asked the prosecution.
The court was told that McLean was wanted for a breach of a Victorian community corrections order plus other police allegations.
McLean had previously pleaded guilty to the charges of drug supply and drug possession, the latter count relating to one gram of cannabis found in his Albury motel room during his arrest.
On that lesser charge, he was convicted with no penalty.
McLean was arrested in his Hovell Tree Inn room while on the run from Victorian police.
The tablets, weighing 6.8 grams and found in a bedside drawer in the room he booked with his girlfriend, had a value of up to $500.
