Michael Newton (hamstring) and Dylan Van Berlo (quad) will need to get through training on Thursday night, but are set to be given the all clear, while ruckman Zac Leitch should also be back after he was unavailable last round against Corowa-Rutherglen.

Albury will welcome back veteran Chris Hyde, who was rested against North Albury before the bye.

The Tigers are also awaiting confirmation from Melbourne in regards to Daniel Cross, with the Demons to take on West Coast in Alice Springs on Sunday.

Cross has played one game for the reigning premiers this season and must line up at least three times to be eligible for finals.

After this weekend, Melbourne's following three games all fall on Saturdays, before they take on Sydney on Friday night in round 22, while the AFL is yet to confirm the season's final round fixture.

"We're trying to get him as much as we can and he wants to play," Albury co-coach Tom McGrath said.

"Hopefully we find out sometime tomorrow (Thursday) morning, but obviously we'd love him to play.

"We're not sure with that last round when we play Myrtleford because they haven't released the (AFL) draw yet.

"Hopefully because they're not going to make finals, they'll put them on Sunday against North (Melbourne)."

Wangaratta coach Luke Morgan is no certainty to get back for the Albury clash after sustaining a concussion against Yarrawonga on June 30, but is pleased with how Newton and Van Berlo are both tracking.

"I'm going to push my case at selection and provided I get through OK, we'll see how we go," he said.

"In my dual role, I've got to make sure I'm doing the main role, which is coaching the footy side and doing that well.

"'Juice' (Newton) is very likely to be an inclusion coming in this week.

"Van Berlo missed the Corowa game as a bit of precaution.

"We'll manage him, but he's looking likely as well."

A loss for Wangaratta will leave it two wins outside the top-three with four games remaining in the season, but victory will see it likely relegate Albury to fourth on percentage.
