The buildings would form part of the set for an eight-part TV series based on the book by Riverina author Leonie Alldis, Red Hot.
Film producer Bill Leimbach was location scouting in Albury-Wodonga this week for the project, which would take six months to film.
He said Rachel Ward would direct the series, which involved a cast and crew of 150 plus local extras.
"We need a fruit packing shed the size of a football field - in which to build sets - within 25 kilometres of Albury for six months," he said.
Red Hot is a fictional take on the true story of an arsonist who tormented Hamilton Valley Lavington during the 1960s.
