RESPECT
There is little doubt that Barnawartha's Cam McNeill is not only one of the league's best players but also one of the most respected by teammates and opposition players alike. In a mark of respect for McNeill's 200th last weekend both Barnawartha and Rutherglen reserve players formed a guard of honour as he run out onto the ground and through the banner.
RACE HOTS UP
Yackandandah spearhead Trent Castles has charged back into contention for the goalkicking title. Castles season looked done and dusted after he suffered a shoulder injury against Kiewa Sandy Creek in round 11. But Castles has bounced back in emphatic fashion and booted 10 goals last weekend to take his tally to 78. He trials Ricky Whitehead who is on 83.
DOGS GONE
Thurgoona will be without key duo Kade Brown and Mark Haydon for the next month. The pair have both headed overseas and will leave a gaping hole in the Dogs defence. With only five rounds remaining they won't return until the eve of the finals. Luckily for the Dogs, they boast the most depth in the league.
