When it comes to our homes, colour and texture have the power to make a room feel warm or cold, appear larger or smaller and make us happy and relaxed.
The fixtures, fittings and colours you choose to put in your home should reflect your personality, your style, your family composition, your furniture and complement the purpose of the room. That's a lot to consider!
This is the message from Davis Sanders Homes Your Home Selection Studio manager and colour consultant Laurel Butler.
"The right roof colour, paint colour or floor/wall tile choices can make all the difference in getting the details right," she said.
"The Your Home Selection Studio colour consultants are experienced in helping clients make the right choices and guiding them through this very important and exciting area of the home building process."
Ms Butler said clients building with Davis Sanders Homes are taken on a full day "Style Safari" through the Your Home Selection Studio with their personal colour consultant. The day begins with a chat about your style, ideas and the vision that you have for your home.
"This informal discussion over a cup of coffee is the stepping off point of the day and allows us to then begin with your exterior selections," Ms Butler said.
"The extensive range of bricks we have on display in the studio is our first port of call and helps us then make some decisions about the colour of your roof, gutter and fascia. With these choices made, window style and colour are next on the agenda."
During the morning, every detail of your home's exterior is decided and documented. Things like the colour of your water tank, air conditioning unit, the profile and colour of your garage door, your front door and its door furniture.
Following morning tea, it is time to start on the interior selections - this starts with flooring.
"With more than 20 flooring choices on display in the Selection Studio our clients can see, feel and walk on each surface until they find the one that is just right for them and their budget," Ms Butler said.
"With each decision, our colour consultants skilfully and gently guide you through the entire process, selecting architraves, skirting boards, cornices, built-in robes, internal doors and door furniture, documenting everything as they go.
"Together they share a working lunch and then continue on with their style journey which begins with tile selection, followed by your kitchen/pantry layout, appliances, stone benchtop and laminate choices, handles and hardware."
The design of your laundry and bathrooms is also made easy - there is a whole section of the studio dedicated to bathrooms.
"Choosing the perfect colour scheme and selections for your home is a rewarding experience - just relax and enjoy the process, look around you for inspiration, listen to the advice of your consultant but ultimately make your own decisions," she said.
