With no under-16s football in the Upper Murray, Josh Parker joined Lavington under-16s in the Albury-Wodonga junior football league.
Parker played four matches with the Panthers before gaining a permit to play for Corryong seniors against Bullioh on June 29.
After making his senior debut, Parker decided he would prefer to play the remainder of the season with Corryong.
His mother, Leslie, was informed by AFL NEB that her son could play for Corryong each week on permits.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Parker has since found out that Josh is unable to play for the Demons on permits, leaving his immediate football future in limbo.
"I found out on Wednesday that the permit that Josh played under wasn't supposed to be put through," Parker said.
"AFL NEB will no longer issue permits.
"Because the June 30 clearance deadline has expired, Josh is unable to get a clearance."
Parker said she contacted AFL NEB on Wednesday and spoke to operations manager Gavin Rendell.
"I spoke to Gavin and his response was 'I'm sorry, it's my fault and my mistake but there is nothing we can do about it,'" she said.
"Well you can explain that to my son who is devastated now that he can't play for Corryong.
"If I had have known before June 30 that these permits weren't allowed, I would have applied for a clearance.
"But the AFL NEB has just realised its mistake a week after June 30.
"Now AFL NEB is saying there is nothing it can do to rectify its own mistake and Josh doesn't want to play again for Lavington."
Rendell said the AFL NEB had issued permits by mistake.
"We did approve permits earlier in the season which was not the correct thing to do," Rendell said.
"That was brought to our attention and we are having discussions at the moment for the best outcome."
