Sitting three games outside the top-six with seven to play doesn't leave much margin for error.
Murray United will meet second-placed Bulleen for the third time this season when they welcome the Lions to La Trobe on Saturday.
The Border side fell 2-1 in the first league meeting earlier in the campaign, before going down 2-0 to them in the fifth round of the FFA Cup at Lavington Sportsground in May.

"We've played them twice and been in both games, they are a very well-drilled side with some dangerous players up front," Murray coach Elliot Jones said.
"We have some big inclusions in Archie Thompson and Jade North, so we will look to be really positive and take them on.
"Josh Zito is out. He will take some replacing as he's probably been our most damaging midfielder."
Kick-off is at 3pm.
