COROWA Swimming Club members will be one of the major beneficiaries of a last-minute tweak to plans for the town's pool redevelopment with the addition of an extra lane in the indoor facility.

The initial proposal was for two 25m lanes in an indoor heated multi-purpose pool, but Federation Council has released the final concept design plans showing three lanes, which will be used by lap swimmers including swim club members.
"So pleased with the decision to have three," the club's Facebook page said.
"We have a lot of lap swimmers in the area.
"We're hoping we can keep swim club going all year round and two lanes would not have been enough to accommodate that."
The appointed designer for the Corowa pool project, Stephen Johansson, from Facility Design Group has presented council and pool advisory committee with final design concept plans for the facility ahead of their public release yesterday.
"The new aquatic centre will support our residents to have access to the very best facility that we could responsibly achieve given the project budget and operating costs," Federation mayor Pat Bourke said.
"Coupled with the other sporting facilities in close proximity, the new facility will be the centrepiece of the sporting precinct which will be a significant attraction for the entire region.
"Throughout the process, council has engaged with the swimming pool advisory committee, who have provided important feedback to developing the final concept plan."
The project is hoped to be completed by "mid to late" next year which means the town will be without an outdoor public pool for the second successive summer.
The price tag for the project with outdoor and indoor facilities has climbed to almost $9.5 million with council committed to borrowing $1.5 million to meet an existing shortfall.
