"The house was fully involved when the brigades arrived," Wodonga senior station officer Andrew Schultz told the Border Mail, with dark smoke visible from the main road just after 1:30pm.
"All occupants were out of the home, unfortunately the house is extensively damaged and the occupants will need to find some emergency accommodation."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Extra brigades responded due to the amount of water required to contain the fire in the single story home on a rural property off Johnsons Lane, Allans Flat.
More than 10 appliances from the CFA remained on scene for over two hours to assist with controlling the fire.
Senior station officer Schultz said "the cause was not suspicious".
Ambulance Victoria responded as a precaution with there being no reported injuries to occupants, wet conditions hampered fire trucks getting into the property.
