Two strikes inside the final 10 minutes from Jacob Schreiber and Harrison Heath got Hotspurs over the line.
It was an even contest throughout, with both sides creating golden scoring opportunities.
Spurs' keeper Joel McDonough made two crucial saves in the first half to deny Alain Mubali and Shane Hasler.
The roles were reversed after the break with Cam McCormack keeping out excellent chances from Ben Gardiner and Heath.
Schreiber broke the game open with a well-placed finish from the right edge, while Heath timed his run to perfection and finished a great pass from Gardiner.
Spurs' coach Matt Townsend said it was a "stressful" finish given what was at stake for his side.
"We always knew we were a good chance to play finals, we've done it the hard way, but we still believe we should be there," he said.
"We've had good results in the past six or seven weeks and really showed something - it's a big difference from the start of the season to where we are now.
"We had a look at the draw and we could end up on even points with them (Melrose) going into the last round of the season (against them).
"It could be a face-off in the last round, which is what we're hoping for because we want to be there."

Townsend has one of the youngest teams in the league at his disposal, but is delighted with what he's seeing.
"We started the year with six blokes under 20 and we're gelling together now and it's really coming together," he said.
"Our captain Luke Dahl has been unbelievable for the past six to eight weeks.
"He's definitely our main man, but all the young blokes stepping up have really got us across the line as well."
Diamonds coach Nagus Henry was frustrated with the way the match panned out.
"We were in it for the most of the game," Henry said.
"Our performance was good, but we just need the right players.
"It was a frustrating game for us, we were on top of them in the first half.
"The second half they got back into it, but we didn't take our chances.
"We need to go back to the drawing board and start from scratch."
Henry was impressed with the performance of Will Hampton, while Lirak Ejupi and McCormack also produced strong displays.
"He (McCormack) made a couple of great saves, he just couldn't keep the two goals out," Henry said.
