Brisbane point guard Jason Cadee will join the Boomers as a replacement for NBA superstar Ben Simmons, who withdrew from Australia's basketball squad on Sunday. Cadee is no stranger to the Boomers set-up, playing in five of their FIBA World Cup qualifying matches over the past 18 months. Making his senior international debut in 2012, the 28-year-old was a member of the gold medal winning teams at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. Cadee joined the Brisbane Bullets in 2018 after stints with the Sydney Kings, Kymis (Greece), Super City Rangers (New Zealand), Adelaide 36ers and the Gold Coast Blaze. The Australians will meet in Melbourne this week for a training camp, with the FIBA World Cup to start in China in late August. Simmons had already withdrawn from the tournament to focus on his NBA career and then pulled out of Australia's four warm-up games next month against the United States and Canada.
