The total amount owed to council was $334,000 when it decided to recoup its losses in April.
But almost $110,000 has been recovered to date with the number of properties going to auction dropping from 36 to 30.
"Council is very appreciative that those owners have found the means to pay their rates and council also hopes that further settlements are reached prior to the auction," Federation mayor Pat Bourke said.
Council had the the power to sell them when rates were outstanding for five years.
Paull & Scollard-Landmark has been appointed the agents to conduct the auctions at the Urana Town Hall on August 17 and Corowa's Oddfellows Hall on August 24 with both starting at 10am.

The bulk of the properties are in the former former Corowa Shire being at Balldale, Corowa, Daysdale, Howlong, Loewsdale, Mulwala and Savernake with properties up for grabs in the former Urana Shire at Boree Creek, Morundah, Oaklands and Urana.
The decision to sell the properties was made at the Federation Council's April meeting when it was also agreed that no property listed could be withdrawn from sale until all amounts due at the date of proposed settlements, including current rates and charges including extra charges, were paid in full by close of business three days before the auction.
Councillors were provided with a confidential rundown on property particulars including amounts owed at the April meeting and with some including Cr Gail Law defending council attempts to recover the rates not paid.
Another Deniliquin business is up for auction with the Rockmans store in the town's main street to be offfered for sale next Tuesday in the latest portfolio auction to be conducted by agents, Burgess Rawson.
The 255 Cressy Street property lease has been recently extended with a three bedroom apartment also located at the rear of the building.
Burgess Rawson sold the Dahlsens outlet in Deniliquin for $902,000 in June.
Meanwhile, the Albury ANZ bank branch in Dean Street will be closed from 2pm next Friday to 9.30am the following Monday to allow a $320,000 digital upgrade to take place including an upgraded ATM.
"The ATM is multi denomination to allow customers, in particular business owners, access to deposit coins," an ANZ spokesperson said.
"Customers will also be able to use their mobile devices to easily withdraw cash without having to insert their bank card."
