There are many forms of homelessness; it is defined as sleeping in an unsecure arrangement that is temporary, such as a couch, a friend's place, refuge, hotel or campground.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics records' show that Albury Wodonga's population is about 89,000. For every 10,000 people, 50 are homeless.
Restart Albury Wodonga assisted 500 people in 2018 and in five years they have assisted over 2000 people.
The service recently received a thank you from a boy and his mother who did not have adequate linen - "thank you, it's so warm and comfortable. I will be warm tonight". A young boy and his mother have been given the basic human right of being warm at night in the middle of winter because they have access to our services.
Restart Albury Wodonga can help those linked into a support service (Yes Unlimited Junction Support Services, Gateway Health, Mission Australia Albury, DHHS or FACs) or if people can't afford to purchase items.
The service is always in need of basic kitchen, toiletry and cleaning items, but there is a strict list of items they can take due to space and keeping the packs simple. Before donating, visit the "donate items" tab on the website.
If you want to provide assistance, contact Restart to see how you can best help.
Restart also receives grants, money donations and fund-raises for items to make up packs.
