Kath Bergamin disappeared from her Brien Crescent home on August 18, 2002.
A coroner later found she had been taken from the home, or forced from the property, and killed.
Her body has never been found.
Organisers of the National Missing Person Week - which started on Sunday - hope to raise awareness of those like Ms Bergamin who are on the long term missing list.
AFP Commander Justine Gough said the missing people were more than just numbers.
"The people captured in the statistics are not just 'missing persons', they are fathers, daughters and sons, students, chefs and academics," she said
"We don't want people to forget that."
