The man - who can't be named to protect the victims - took 141 photos of some of the offending, with a judge describing the man's actions as "utterly depraved offending".
One girl, aged 10 or 11, was blindfolded and tied up as the man took pictures of the abuse.
Judge Gregory Lyon raised his voice in the Wodonga County Court on Thursday as he imposed a maximum 12-year sentence for the vile offending, much of which is too graphic to report.
The man's grandson found images of the abuse on his computer and reported it.
Police raided the now 67-year-old's home in June last year and he initially denied the offending, despite hundreds of images being found.

He made qualified admissions during an interview last August, but claimed the girl who bore the brunt of his abuse "wanted to try things".
"There is no room for justification or explanation such as that (the victim) was 'curious' or that she 'wanted' ... to engage in the acts portrayed in the photographs," the judge said.
"It was your responsibility as an adult male ... as a grandfather, and to some extent as a general guardian to protect your granddaughter over the course of her childhood and teen years.
"There is a clear bright line which stands as a legal moral and ethical prohibition against any form of sexual contact between an adult and child.
"There is no concept of consent by which an adult can justify or rationalise that what they did in fact was simply give in to a weakness, to a curious or desirous child.
"The decision to abuse this child over the course of this sustained period, on numerous occasions, and in so many varied and degrading ways must be laid squarely at your feet."
Judge Lyon said he had showed the victims and his family "no pity and no respect" and said his actions were "just disturbing".
The main offending occurred between 2002 and 2004 when the younger girl was primary school-aged, but he took images of himself masturbating to the images between 2005 and 2008, shared stories with other paedophiles online in 2008 and 2009, and emailed four pornographic images of his granddaughter in 2017.
Judge Lyon said the victims' statements were "some of the most powerful I have heard", and said the man will be on the sex registry for life.
