The 30-year-old hairdresser, newly married to Luke Garland, was diagnosed with early breast cancer in April 2019.
"I was sitting on the couch and felt this sudden, sharp pain; it was the second time I had experienced it," she said.
"It prompted me to really check out my breasts and I found a lump I knew was unusual."
For Bobbi, "early detection was the key" and the radiation went well.
The day she walked into the new cancer centre to start her treatment she saw the poster advertising the inaugural 20-kilometre fundraiser walk on November 24.
The walk - it's not a race and there is 5km option - will be held as part of the cancer centre's annual Sunshine Week fundraising efforts.
Already the walk has attracted more than 167 registrations (including 22 teams) with at least $33,000 raised, the trust has reported.
Bobbi, with a team of 10 and a few more to register, has a $5000 target and is well on the way to smashing that.
"My story is a little different to others," she said.
"We only just got married and were trying to start a family so my diagnosis came as a big shock."
Bobbi said her journey - the treatment and associated support services - was made easier thanks to the local cancer centre.
"We don't realise how lucky we are when we are not exposed to cancer," she said.
"I didn't have to go anywhere for treatment and the people there - including those wonderful volunteers - made it so easy."
