That's the message from Dunoon principal Jock Harbison.
"We're striving to breed bulls which can go into a wide range of environments, adapt and do well for the people who buy them," Mr Harbison said.
The sale of 100 bulls, which will also be integrated on AuctionsPlus, is set to be held on Friday, August 30 at 1pm.
Mr Harbison said the bulls catalogued averaged +3.8 for birth weight, with the average for the heavy grain index being $149 - which is in the top 15 per cent of the breed.
"All bulls are DNA sire assured," Mr Harbison said.
"All have well-balanced BreedPlan data; been assessed for temperament and have tested negative for Pestivirus."
Sires represented in this sale include:
- Clunie Range Hank H358;
- Ayrvale Hurcules H9;
- VAR Foreman;
- VAR Index;
- VAR Discovery;
- Pathfinder General K7; and
- Dunoon Kansas K813.
"As far as the new sires, VAR Foreman has bred bulls with loads of performance, impressive thickness and weight for age," Mr Harbison said.
"VAR Index has produced bulls with lots of eye muscle area with depth and softness."
Pathfinder General K7 has sons with low birth weights, adequate growth and plenty of carcase data.
"There are 10 bulls in the offering which Dunoon used as joining sires last year," Mr Harbison said.
"These bulls were used over yearling heifers with really pleasing results."
Dunoon Angus is known for using their own yearling bulls then offering these bulls in their sale.
"We find our own yearlings work very well - to use some of our best young bulls on our own cows is fast-tracking our genetic gain," Mr Harbison said.
"Then there are a lot of our clients who like to buy the bulls that have already worked."
The 10 bulls already have a lot of calves on the ground all from heifers.
"And our calving rate has been fantastic," he said.
