Trailing by 17 points at the final break, the Lions looked destined to finish the season with the ignominy of collecting the wooden spoon without a win.
But Josh Clark, Cody Milne and Pat Borg had other ideas and lifted their work rate and ensured the home side secured a satisfying 15.14 (104) to 14.11 (95) victory.

The Lions wore their traditional Tigers jumpers on Saturday which were their colours in the now defunct Coreen league.
Co-coach Nathan Parker was thrilled to finish the season on a high.
"It was a good reward for the group to finally get a win," Parker said.
"The day probably epitomised our season in that we were down and out at the last change.
"But the boys dug deep and grounded out a satisfying win and hopefully a stepping stone to go forward."
