An Ian Beath hat trick saw Norths record a 5-1 triumph against Wodonga to leave the Bulldogs outside the top-four with one game left.
The men's ladder after round 18 is: CR United 49, Norths 29, Magpies 27, Falcons 17, Wodonga 16, Wombats 11.

Goals from Imogen Albon, Danielle McLeish and Rylee Pontt cancelled out Ange McDonald and Kate Reynolds' efforts for Norths.
Falcons took down Wombats-Beechworth 3-1.
The competition leaders scored twice early, but had to see off a strong challenge.
Magpies' 2-1 win against CR United was set up by goals to Niamh Morrison and Teash O'Halloran, with Bella Heagney on the scoreboard for United.
