"The redevelopment is progressing well and while there's been a couple of minor setbacks, we don't envisage any further delays to the works program with the estimated completion being August 2020," mayor Kevin Mack said.
"We've been hosting O and M games on the ground this season and there will be full access to the ground for the upcoming cricket season and 2020 O and M season.
"Over the next 12 months, works will focus on the new grandstand and amenities.
"The addition of AFL standard change rooms, new coaches and media facilities, first class function space overlooking the arena and improved access into the stadium will ensure we can not only host the O and M grand final, but will attract many other national and regional events to Albury.
"We would welcome any opportunity to discuss the O and M 2020 grand final with the league and we look forward to opening what will be one of regional Australia's premier sporting facilities."
EARLIER: LAVINGTON Sportsground is almost certain to be off-limits as an Ovens and Murray Football-Netball League grand final venue for a third successive year with confirmation the completion date for the facility's multi-million dollar upgrade has been pushed back.
A revised target completion date of August 2020 was revealed in an Albury Council briefing session held this week.
Wangaratta's Norm Minns Oval will host the O and M grand final for the second successive year next month with Lavington already ruled out to host a final this season due to the ongoing redevelopment.

The project was initially scheduled to be completed in May next year, but council staffer Mike Redman said weather delays and a second asbestos discovery had pushed completion back.
"We still anticipate more inclement weather and minor delays" he said.
"Realistically the completion date is August 2020.
"But we've still got to get through this winter and early spring and then next winter."
"We are currently working with user groups for the upcoming cricket season, providing some temporary access for the new oval and perimeter fencing will be installed on three sides of the oval in early September," Mr Redman said.
Council leisure facilities team leader Michael Stanton also provided an update on carparking arrangements with the creation of two parking areas north of Centaur Road for major events under investigation.
"We have lots of options, but will be a different way of going about it," he said.
Five designated carparking areas will create an extra 350 spots than when council purchased the land next door to the main oval in 2012.
Access to the existing 700-plus sealed carparks on the former sports club site is at the discretion of the land's owner with a licence agreement to expire in December.
Construction of a carpark on Centaur Road behind the new oval has been delayed due to construction crews presently using the area to access the grandstand section where major works will take place.
Consultants have been appointed to develop a facility management and business development strategy for when works are completed and held early discussions with present user groups.
"It is looking at a whole range of things including management and operational options, commercial opportunities, branding and signage and some usage aspects of how we use the site as well," Mr Stanton said.
