Plans to improve lighting and drainage, build a second netball court, relocate cricket nets and new changerooms are included in a master-plan which has been put together by consultancy firm Spiire.

Albury Council team leader parks and recreation David Armstrong conceded the venue named after former Albury mayor and legendary Ovens and Murray league administrator Cleaver Bunton was long overdue for a facelift during a briefing this week.

Funding of more than $200,000 has already been allocated over the next three financial years to begin the lighting upgrade with replacement perimeter fencing likely to be a short-term project.

Carparking along Logan Road which can be used by those attending Bunton Park and next door dog park is also on the radar.

Mr Armstrong said North Albury Football Club was happy to retain existing changerooms on the Alamein Avenue side in the short-term, but a new facility in the north-west corner of the the venue catering for football, netball, cricket and lawn bowls had been identified.

"Like any project when I'm talking to user groups, I'm asking if they can contribute to works," he said.

"One of the things I've already talked about is setting priorities and not being given five or six projects in one go.

"We can then build a funding strategy around that."

Bunton Park's single netball court presently meets demand with only four grades in the O and M.

Meanwhile, Albury Tigers Football-Netball Club is seeking a $50,000 contribution from council towards improved lighting at the Albury Sportsground with the request to be debated on Monday night.

The club and AFL have both committed $50,000 each to the project which would result in lighting improved to 100 lux level so a twilight match can be played at the upcoming Joss State Zone Trials.

The AFL was prepared to bring in one-off supplementary lighting for the event before the club approached council about a longer-term solution.
