A Wodonga man has been charged by police after an older man's ribs were broken during a dispute.

Sergeant Angus Longley, of Albury, said the incident occurred about 5.45pm on Thursday ahead of a community meeting in central Albury.
The offender, 51, and the 66-year-old victim had known each other for a number of years.
Sergeant Longley said an argument began and the offender pushed the other man down.
"He's fallen on the ground and the offender has stomped on the chest of the victim," the officer said.
"The victim suffered fractured ribs and minor cuts to his elbows and knees."
The accused attended Albury police station on Saturday afternoon and was arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Albury police also attended a car crash about 5pm Saturday at Carlma Court, Lavington.
"The driver has mistakenly hit the accelerator instead of the brake and hit the garage of the house," Sergeant Longley said.
The female driver, aged in her 60s, was taken to hospital with a sore neck while the garage door and car were damaged.
