The man was injured during the incident, and the 44-year-old victim was also hurt.
Both men were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
It was unclear what weapon was used in the fight, but a large streak of blood was visible on the front door of the home on Friday.

"A male has received some injuries from a weapon and there's a male in custody at Wangaratta at the moment, assisting police.

"Our investigations are continuing."
Forensic officers examined the home and removed several items of evidence from inside the property.
Police also spoke to nearby residents about what occurred.
