About 9.30pm on August 20, Riverina Police District officers received reports of a vehicle spotlighting across agricultural land at Maragle near Tumbarumba.
Police responded and patrolled the area, finding the vehicle parked outside a residence at a rural property on Maragle Road.
Police attended the property and allegedly observed several duck and deer carcasses at the residence, as well as a rifle and ammunition inside the unattended vehicle.
Officers spoke with the residence's male occupant, aged 35, and seized the firearm and two rounds of ammunition because of inadequate storage.
