The experienced mentor bid farewell to the playing group after Sunday's 6-1 loss to Boomers in the cup quarter-finals.
Maw took on the senior role in 2015 and guided City to the cup final in his second season at the helm.
It's been a long haul for Maw, with his coaching career starting in 2007 with City's under-nines.
After 13 years of coaching, he's looking forward to watching a game without the added stress.

"I'll let some other poor bugger get the grey hairs and the balding from it," Maw laughed.
"It wasn't exactly the way I wanted to go out, but it's been five years with them and it's time for a different voice I think.
"It's disappointing. We were happy with top-four, obviously with the strength of Wangaratta and teams like that.
"It's hard to win a league with the depth and the squad they've got and being able to bring players in.
"But we thought we'd go into finals with a bit of gusto, so to take nothing out of the year is a bit disappointing.
"Someone else can have it now and hopefully they can take them a bit further.
"It's time to give something back to my own family because these guys are like a second family to me."
Albury City captain and club vice-president Campbell Taylor described Maw as arguably the club's most decorated coach.
"Some of our senior players have been playing for him since seven and eight (years of age)," Taylor said.
"He's brought a lot of juniors through and played a crucial role in developing the younger kids for senior football.
"We've got Isaac Hovar playing with Western Sydney Wanderers and (his son) Thorne Maw went to Blacktown Spartans this year.
"There's huge shoes to fill. His training drills each week were set up with such a focus on the opposition we were playing that week.
"His professionalism was great, also on the business side, he was heavily involved in organising sponsors."
Other coaching highlights include the league-cup double with the under-nines, under-12s, under-14s and under-16s, the reserves cup in 2017 and reserves league in 2018, as well as winning the 2018 Andronicos Cup - the club's first since 2005.
Maw is a life member of Albury City Football Club.
