Brett Anthony Fraser put his offending earlier this year down to a mix of "stupidity" and his out-of-control drug use.
He targeted Erotic Nights on High Street with another person in mid-February.
The shop owner was distracted and Fraser stole three items worth about $200.

"It was stupid," he later told police after a raid in his Lawrence Street home on May 15.
Two of the sex toys were found in his bathroom, while other items stolen during car break-ins were also recovered.
The former Tallangatta resident was fuelled by uncontrollable ice use between April and June.
In one car break-in, Fraser took a gun licence which was later found underneath his kitchen sink.
He stole a wallet from another car on Maygar Avenue on Anzac Day and used cards at Coles and to buy fuel, with the cards recovered by police.
Another vehicle was targeted the following day and cards used at the Caltex on Melbourne Road, at a supermarket and in an unsuccessful attempt to buy alcohol at BWS.
Another vehicle was broken into on Hensley Court the following month, and Fraser stole fuel from APCO after his arrest.
Lawyer Francesca Ciantar told the Wodonga Magistrates Court yesterday Fraser had long-standing issues with drugs and was using ice and cannabis at the time.
"His use of these substances were not controlled at the time," she said.
"Residing in Wodonga inclined him to reside with other drug users."
While Ms Ciantar said Fraser was adamant he wanted to stop using, and had undertaken rehab, magistrate Ian Watkins said he wanted to "see how fair dinkum he is".
"It's breaking into cars and I think the community of Wodonga is sick of such behaviour," he said.
Mr Watkins extended a corrections order and asked Fraser return to court for sentencing on November 19.
