The head of a cancer charity targeted by a brazen thief in Albury says the incident is disappointing.

A woman well known to police for similar charity tin thefts allegedly stole the donation box at Myer Centrepoint on Thursday afternoon.
Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre trust fund manager Kristy McMahon said the stolen cash had been diverted from a good cause.

"No segment of our community is untouched by cancer, so there's a good chance it will be one of your friends or family members or even yourself that needs the services of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre one day," she said to the thief.
"When that day comes I want you to remember that you have taken away from the researchers who are working to find a cure, the nurses who will look after you and an organisation that invests in medical equipment to provide better outcomes for cancer patients."
It was unclear if the woman, who appeared before Albury court this week on other matters, has been charged.
