Barton medallist Jayden Kotzur, Sam Cross, Kade Brown, Josh Maher and Brett Doswell have all been tagged by rival clubs at different stages during the season.

But Cook said he will be backing his players to beat their direct opponent.

"We learnt a lot out of our second semi-final loss against Thurgoona," Cook said.

"I feel if you start going away from what you know and start covering too many players, you start getting away from what you do best as a team.

"We have touched on that and we know what their game plan is and we just have to play our brand of footy."

Thurgoona will start a raging favourite in the decider after notching 71, 65 and 31 point victories against the Tigers so far this season.

The Tigers will take some heart that Cook missed the first two encounters.

After kicking seven goals in the qualifying final against Chiltern, Cook has been kept goalless in the past two finals against Thurgoona and Kiewa Sandy Creek on the weekend.

Cook said rival teams flooding back into defence made life difficult for key forwards.

"It's pretty hard to kick goals in finals as a big key forward," he said.

"A lot of midfielders and defenders run deep and there is a lot more congestion.

"We spoke about it before the game, that it's not going to be champagne footy and the midfielders hitting your lead-up targets lace out.

"So you don't get a lot of opportunities.

"I also like to play up the ground a bit at times to try and find a bit more space that way."

Cook paid tribute to Tiger trump card Josh Spence who bobbed up with five goals against the Hawks in a match-winning performance.

Spence also kicked three goals against Thurgoona the previous week.
