McDougall started the meeting on a high taking out the opening event aboard the Craig Widdison-trained Toffee Doll.
Toffee Doll ($4.20) made an impressive debut after winning the $23,000 Maiden Plate, (1100m) by almost two lengths.
The three-year-old filly produced a barnstorming finish out wide on the track to score a runaway victory over race-favourite Smart Design ($2.80).
McDougall predicted a bright future for the daughter of Toorak Toff.
"Craig was full of praise of his filly pre-race and she was turned out in magnificent fashion," McDougall said.
"He said she would jump and travel and that's exactly what she did.
"It was a fairly soft victory in the end.
"She is still very green and in a good sign was still running away from them.
"So she looks to have an exciting future."
