Sixteen Rural Fire Service members from Berrigan to Jingellic and places inbetween flew from Albury to Grafton on Monday.
The majority will be deployed to the Drake area east of Tenterfield with two officers bound for Canungra in Queensland.
More than 32,000 hectares has been blackened around Drake, with eight structures destroyed.
Superintendent Patrick Westwood said they would spend a week away.
"It had been a very quick response to fill the request, with crews willing and able to leave family and employment for the week to help out those in need up north," he said.
"Our crews are all experienced and are to be commended for their willingness to go and help.
"It's likely to be a very long season for these firefighters as we are only just into spring and our fire season is expected to continue until March-April 2020."
