Hyde spent three seasons under Frawley at Richmond, from 2002-2004, during his 93-game AFL career at Punt Road.
The seven-time premiership-winning Albury player said Frawley's death put football into perspective.
''It's shattering,'' Hyde said.
''Danny always had the players' best interests at heart and was a really genuine person.
''He was a real players person.
''He will be missed by a lot of people and my thoughts are with his family.''
IN OTHER NEWS:
Former Yarrawonga stars Craig Ednie and Kayne Pettifer were also coached by Frawley during their time with Richmond.
More recently, Frawley took charge of Lavington's Shaun Mannagh, Pigeon Mark Whiley and Wangaratta Rovers' Nathan Cooper when they represented Victoria Country against the VAFA in July.
Frawley was full of praise for Cooper, telling The Border Mail the Hawks defender had what it takes to make it at the top level.
As well as coaching Victoria Country and being a popular figure in the AFL media landscape, Frawley was a prominent advocate for mental health awareness.
Last year he joined Wayne Schwass and former St Kilda, Lavington and Brock-Burrum big man Justin Koschitzke for the 1433km Puka Up ride from Sydney to Melbourne to shine a light on suicide.
