On August 31, the flag at the Captain Albert Borella and Australian VC recipient's memorial, outside Peards Albury, was stolen by a man in the early hours of the morning.
That week the flag had been lowered to half mast to mark the death and funeral of Tim Fischer.
At the time, Peards owner George Benyon offered a $1000 reward for information about the man who took the flag.
IN OTHER NEWS:
CCTV captured a man walking to the monument and removing the flag, which is one-and-a-half times bigger than a normal flag.
Mr Benyon said the flag had been handed to police, anonymously.
He said the $1000 reward would be donated to the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre in memory of Mr Fischer.
