Long hours and hard work are paying off for the family behind the Culcairn-based stud - during the past week they have already seen eight rams sold averaging $6000.
Scott Mitchell, who runs the stud with his partner Brooke Perez and parents Doug and Irene Mitchell, said last weekend's events at Bendigo (Elite White Suffolk Show & Sale plus Australasian Dorset Championships Show & Sale) was just one highlight.
They won every group in the White Suffolk section, plus reserve champion senior and junior ewe. They also sold a ram for $5000. And Scott's daughter Liv, 10, won the junior handling competition. In the Poll Dorset event they won best pair of rams and reserve champion ewe plus got second top price, selling rams for $10,000 and $7500.
Bendigo was just one of nine shows Scott has attended this year featuring many other successes. He said it was also an honour to be invited to judge at Sydney Royal.
"Successes are down to years of breeding stock and carefully selecting sires plus trying to keep structure in sheep along with length, because length is weight and weight pays," he said.
The Rene sale will feature 125 rams and will be held on Friday, September 27 on property from midday.
Rene will also be at the Henty Machinery Field Days from September 17 to 19.
