"Police pursuits," Rodney Brender told Nathan Patrick Sullivan in Albury Local Court, "are a very effective way of killing yourself or others on the road."
He sentenced Sullivan on Friday to two years in jail, with a non-parole period of 18 months, over two pursuits on July 6.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Sullivan sped through central Albury residential streets and in so doing, drove on the wrong side of the road at times, police said, and put other motorists at extreme risk.
At one point in the second pursuit he stopped at Albury railway station, got out of his car - which Mr Brender ordered be forfeited to the Crown - and pulled out a knife.

He then pointed the knife in a threatening manner at police, before taking off again at speed.
This all happened while the 28-year-old, a diagnosed schizophrenic, was on parole for other offences.
He will now be released from jail on January 5, 2021, which is a little over a month past the end of the parole period for his previous offending.
