Whether that was back stage of television programs where "underwear was optional", watching Tallangatta "move around her" or wearing one of the first two piece bathers in the 1930s before it was stolen from the family's beach box in Melbourne.
Mrs Orson was well before her time and celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday with "a sherry or two".
Born on September 15, 1919 in the Melbourne suburb of Hampton, Mrs Orson never believed in the status quo and was always on the go.
Just weeks after marrying her artist husband Harry, he went off to war so she decided to get into the property market so he had a home to come back to.
"While he was away she bought and sold property so she owned a whole house when he came home," daughter Marion said.
"She did lots of innovative things that people didn't think women would do back then."
"It became a bit of a shared home with family staying with us in between houses," Mrs Orson said.
"Never buy a big house because you will always share it."
When her husband came home and said "would you like to go to Tallangatta" Mrs Orson jumped at the idea of finally living alone.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Dad was transferred up here to help move the town with the State Rivers, he was a draftsman," Marion said.
In 1956 their home was one of the first moved to the new town, but when the removalists came Mrs Orson wasn't quite ready.
"She said 'you can't move anything just yet I am sewing' so the men just picked up and moved everything around her," Marion said.
Mrs Orson's love of sewing took her to the wardrobe department of Channel 2, known as the ABC, where she worked on costumes for the ballet, Adventure Island and made all the caftans for Kamahl the singer.
She also made all of her extended family's wedding and deb dresses but she wasn't very happy with her own.
"I couldn't afford taffeta because it was a war time wedding," Mrs Orson said.
Mrs Orson played down her milestone birthday and reminded everyone she can still touch her toes.
"It is a number yes but I just feel good like I always do," she said.
"It is a bit of a party trick."
