Hunt, who turns 40 next month, played his 417th game in the preliminary final win over Myrtleford at Wodonga's John Flower Oval.
Given the buildup to the game, with a number of cases before the tribunal, Hunt's effort in passing Matt Allen's mark of 416 games (362 Wangaratta Rovers, 54 Corowa-Rutherglen) was overshadowed.
"I don't think it's really sunk in, once the season's finished and I contemplate what comes next, I'll think about it then," he said.
"Today (Sunday) was just about the game and getting the win."
Meanwhile, Wangaratta Football Netball Club president Tony Goodison has offered the following comments.
"I would like to retract my statement involving Simon Curtis in Friday's (The) Border Mail article. It's been a tough week for all parties and it was a poor choice of words."
