Wangaratta ruckman Zac Leitch was suspended for two weeks for striking Shaun Mannagh and will therefore miss the club's third straight decider.

Lavington coach Simon Curtis was banned for two weeks, one suspended, for striking Michael Bordignon.

He will front the AFL Victoria Country Appeals Board in Melbourne tonight.

"I wouldn't have thought so," Lavington captain Luke Garland said when asked if that match had intensified the rivalry.

"I think when you play in big games the rivalry is beat (built) up enough."

Wangaratta coach Luke Morgan also maintains that game is forgotten.

"When you talk about rivalries, you talk about teams that play each other in big finals and this will probably be another chapter in that," he said.

It will be just the second time the pair has met in the grand final.

Wangaratta started strong favourites in 2008 and won by 32 points.

Lavington is again the outsiders, losing the three games this year by an average of 28 points.

But Garland says the Panthers don't need to experiment.

"I wouldn't say (do anything) different, we've just got to be on our game," he said.

"They're a very well balanced team, they've got class all across the ground."

Lavington became the first team in almost 20 years to kick 19 goals and lose, with Wangaratta's firepower proving too much with 23 majors.

The Pies' biggest win in the three games was in the second semi by 34 points, although it was only 11 early in the final term, before they piled on the last four goals.

Lavington hasn't won at the grand final venue - Wangaratta's Norm Minns Oval - since round four, 2016, losing the last three games.

The Pies have a potent forward line, but Lavington's key defenders did a fine job on their opponents in the second semi.

The versatile Brant Dickson restricted 2017 Did Simpson Medal winner Michael Newton to three majors, while Tom Yensch, in just his 11^th senior game this year, kept centre half-forward Josh Porter to two.
