The Panthers stormed out of the blocks with six unanswered goals in the first quarter and never relinquished their advantage to win 14.14 (98) to 9.10 (64) at the Magpies' home ground, Norm Minns Oval.

Despite finishing the season as minor premiers, it was the Panthers' first win over the Magpies this season, having come up short in their previous three meetings.

Shaun Mannagh was outstanding for the 34-point victors, kicking five goals just over a fortnight after being knocked out in the Panthers' second semi-final loss to the Magpies at Birallee Park.

Mannagh was awarded the Did Simpson and VCFL medals as best on ground.

Wangaratta fought back to close within 13 points in the second quarter but the Panthers, through coach Simon Curtis, were able to steady the ship.

Lavington star Nick Meredith, who took a hand injury into the match, was out of the game in the third quarter with a busted collarbone, having kicked two goals for the Panthers.

It was Lavington's first premiership since their after-the-siren thriller against Myrtleford in 2005 and breaks a run of grand final defeats, having gone down to the Magpies (2008) and Albury (2015-16) in their three previous deciders.

Earlier, Wangaratta made it back-to-back premierships in the A grade netball, downing a brave Corowa-Rutherglen 48-45.

"Coming up from Benalla, I never thought I'd win two premierships in three years, so it's been fantastic," Magpies coach Kellie Keen said.

"It's just as sweet second time around - any premiership you win is fantastic because you never know when the next one will be.

"You always enjoy the moment.

"We've been working on the intensity side of things and we nearly put out a 60-minute game today which was fantastic."

Corowa-Rutherglen (B grade), Yarrawonga (C grade) and Wangaratta Rovers (16-and-under) took out the minor netball grades.

In the minor football grades, Myrtleford capped a stunning revival in the thirds to defeat Wangaratta while Yarrawonga proved too strong for Albury in the reserves.
