The fast-footed midcourt player worked tirelessly for the Pies in both attack and defence for the day.

Byrne, who also played in last year's grand final, said the back-to-back win was made even sweeter being able to share it with her life-long friends and teammates.

"We've all grown up playing together and are best friends off the court too," Byrne said.

"We've played junior and senior netball together and now have two senior premierships, which is really nice.

"All of our hard work has paid off.

"It feels really good."

Byrne admitted she can see similarities between her Magpies and their grand final opponents.

"We started from the bottom only five years ago and were getting flogged," Byrne said.

"I just know that they're on the way up too."
