The latest safety feature as part of upgrades to the road will start to go into place next Monday September 30, from Wooragee to Beechworth.

They will be placed on the left-hand side of the road in high-risk locations, to prevent run-off road crashes.
Beechworth-Wodonga Road has been identified as one of the highest risk roads in Victoria, after five people were killed and 14 were seriously injured in crashes between 2010 and 2016.
Regional Roads Victoria is onto stage two of the works, which include the wire rope barriers as well as wider centre lines, new line markings including rumble strips, and an 80km/h speed limit from Balaclava Road in Beechworth to about 800 metres past the Beechworth-Chiltern Road turn-off.
Work crews will be on site from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, plus temporary lane closures and a 40km/h speed limit will be in place through the worksite.
