Five youths smashed the outdoor lights at Miss Naked Cakes on South Street at 8.40pm on Saturday.

Owner Clare Doolan discovered the aftermath at 9.30am on Sunday, coming in with her children on her day off to paint the outdoor seating.

"I walked around the corner and there was just glass everywhere," she said.

"We have 14 lightbulbs and all of them had been smashed.

"As I progressed through the video footage I could see they were jumping up, unscrewing the lightbulbs, turning around and just smashing them.

"It was a safety hazard - people were going to the laundromat and walking dogs - and it was all along the curb and on the road."

Within hours of posting the CCTV footage on social media, one of the youths had been identified.

"The footage has had 10,000 views and the girl had been identified several times, and I'd say she'd been notified and she took herself down to the police station, and has dobbed in the other kids as well," she said.

"All of them have been identified and because they're children they're not accountable for recouping costs, so we just have to wear it.

"They were all going to be cautioned - one of the girls might come and apologise."

Ms Doolan said it could have been a lot worse and was glad the damage was confined to lights.

"It's only lightbulbs and realistically it's not going to cost us a huge amount, but the clean-up was incredible," she said.

"My kids were there and could see and it was just 'why would they do this mum?' - it was really disappointing.

"It was nothing major, but I just felt really violated.

"It's definitely not a targeted attack.

"Kids will be kids, but there's a line."

The third anniversary of Miss Naked Cakes at South Street was celebrated in May, and the business has grown exponentially since Clare and her sister Lauren began part-time operations in 2015.

Ms Doolan said she had not had any issues with vandalism or crime up until now.

"People come here because we've created an awesome little community," she said.

"With what they're doing with Junction Place and High Street, we're trying to make the town beautiful.

"We've never had something like this and hope it doesn't happen again."

Wodonga Council staff assisted with the clean-up on Sunday and Ms Doolan said she was overwhelmed by support from the community.
