Both the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants are fielding three teams in the under-13s and under-14s based on different regions across NSW, while the newly-introduced under-15s competition sees the Swans and Giants split into north and south.
Murray region talent manager Stephen Murphy believes this year looks like one of the best talent pools yet.
"It's the best 13, 14 and 15-year-olds from NSW." he said.
"It's a talent identification process, so the boys start at this age in the 13s or 14s and start to get a bit more serious in the 15s and the NSW guys, Giants' and Swans' talent managers come and have a look at them and keep an eye on their progress."
The trials finish on Thursday.
