Improving fitness is one of the obvious benefits that immediately comes to mind - It can help you feel stronger, more energetic, happier and improves your overall quality and enjoyment of life.
The fact that it's free exercise may also appeal.
And participating to be social may be another positive contributing to our overall wellbeing.
If you are looking for a reason to ramp up your fitness now that the weather is warmer, you might be interested in the Apia Steppin' Out Walking Group this year and take the steps towards a happier, healthier lifestyle.
In partnership with the Heart Foundation, Apia run a free local walking group in Albury to provide their customers and local over-50s residents with a fun, free way to become more physically active.
Border residents are invited to come along on Wednesdays at 9.30am to have a try and find out more about joining the group.
The walking group meet at the Apia/Suncorp Branch at 463 - 467 Kiewa Street.
There is no need to register beforehand.
You can just head along for the walk and you're also welcome to then stay for a chat afterwards and complimentary coffee or tea.
Heart Foundation Walk Organiser and Apia staff member Lyndell is encouraging over 50s to take up walking, no matter what their age or fitness level.
This is due to there being so many health benefits of regular exercise.
And she said it's also a great way to socialise and meet new people.
"Heart Foundation Walking is fun, free and easy-so why not give it a try," Lyndell said.
"We walk every Wednesday at 9.30am.
"We all enjoy each other's company and we definitely have some fun!
"Here we are at Gateway Island in Wodonga (pictured), checking out the local artwork."
Residents are asked to please pop into the Apia/Suncorp Branch at 463 - 467 Kiewa Street, Albury to attend or find out more about this new walking group.
Alternatively, people are welcome to contact them by emailing communityengagement@apia.com.au with any questions they may have.
