In the past 138 years there has been only one occasion when 30 degrees has been recorded three times in Perth before the end of September and this was in 2015.
There were two recordings of 30 degrees in September in 1954, 1961 and 1987 at Perth.
All these episodes did see warm to hot days in our regions during the first fortnight of October.
Both Carnarvon and Perth have had significant warmer-than-normal conditions during August and September this year.
The records dating back to 1886 at both places show there were warmer-than-normal conditions for both August and September in the same year in 1896, 1914, 1987, 2014 and 2015.
Coonabarabran has received only 78mms since April 1.
For 1896, 1914 and 2014, October was much warmer than usual in our regions and there were very high temperatures late in November.
As far as rainfall is concerned from all these findings useful moderate rains with thunderstorms are expected during the third week of October and more of the same near the end of November with heavy falls during the first half of December.
The big dry continued during September.
Coonabarabran has received only 78mms since April 1.
Other very dry April to September periods in Coonabarabran were 81.8mms in 1982, 67.6mms in 1994, and 68mms in 2017.
There was heavy rain during the third week of October and more of the same late November and early December in 2017 in our regions.
Coonabarabran and other nearby centres have recorded a significantly warmer-than-normal September for the third successive year.
Further south in North East Victoria it has been a very dry September for the third successive year.
The recent heavy rain on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, 136mms at Rainbow Beach, will not lead to a rain event in our region.
The same rain event also occurred at this time of year in both 2017 and 2018, another triple weather event.
