The Ovens and Murray representative has told the Magpies he plans to travel overseas and won't be part of their much-vaunted defence.
Anderson is the second backman to depart Norm Minns Oval since last month's surprise grand final loss to Lavington after vice-captain Ben Douthie announced his retirement.
Despite losing the pair, coach Luke Morgan isn't expecting much change to Wangaratta's playing personnel.
"We will be pretty stable," Morgan said.
"There won't be a lot of change.
"Ben Douthie has retired and Jamie Anderson is travelling overseas but that's about it.
"One or two of our kids might try themselves at a higher level as well."
Morgan believes Wangaratta is well equipped in attack and defence but would look to strengthen its midfield brigade.
"It would be nice to get some more midfield depth," Morgan said.
"An extra midfielder doesn't go astray in any side.
"That's an area we might try and strengthen up."
Meanwhile, young gun Joe Richards won Wangaratta's best and fairest in a thrilling count at Wangaratta on Friday night.
Richards polled 120 votes to edge out Michael Bordignon by three.
Brad Melville (113), Ben Speight (73) and Josh Porter (68) rounded out the top five.
In the reserves, Daniel Saunders won from Fletcher Ramage and Sam Byrne was victorious in the thirds.
Star mid-court player Issy Byrne won Wangaratta's A-grade best and fairest with Hannah Grady runner-up.
The win capped off a dream season for Byrne who was best-on-court in the Magpies' grand final victory over Corowa-Rutherglen.
She also represented the Ovens and Murray during the season.
Chloe Elliott was successful in B grade from Liv Richards and Gabby Wales, Jessie Knights took out C grade and Sophie Bray triumphed in the under-16s.
Dan Roach was named Club Person of the Year and Fraser McKenzie took out Young Club Person of the Year.
