In a post on their Facebook page, organisers said the chickens had been missing since Monday morning.
"It was a sad day to arrive there this morning to find our chooks gone," it said.
"They have been enjoyed by young and old who would bring scraps for them.
"They are so quiet it would of been easy for someone to take [them]. They will be missed."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Organisers asked anyone with information about the missing chickens to get in touch.
"If you know of anyone who may of acquired four chooks last night it is a good chance they belong to the community garden," the post said. Three of the chickens were brown, while the fourth is white with a black spot on her back.
The garden is run by community volunteers, and employs an honour system where people taking eggs are asked to leave money in a tin to help with costs of feed and other expenses.
